I'm writing this to invite, no, to urge my friends and family to take a closer look at immunizations and the decisions they have made and are going to make in the future for their children. I pass no judgement, my choices as a parent will never be yours and whether we agree on some issues I guarantee we disagree on just as many. At this time I think it is more important than ever to decide that the choice to immunize or not immunize is not a decision to be left to your pediatrician. After all you will be the one who does or doesn't sleep at night:)
So first things first...You as a parent have a right and responsibility to make this choice. Your ability to make this choice is now being threatened as well as what the enormous implications will be if you decide not to. In February a bill was introduced in CA that would eliminate the right to choose not to vaccinate! This means that if passed and you live in California you will be required to vaccinate your children. I'm not sure how you feel about that, but I am personally horrified by it. I am very well educated about vaccinations and stand by my choice not to vaccinate my children. They are also two of the healthiest kids I know!
Maybe you think this doesn't concern you because you don't live in CA...but as they say "as California goes, so goes the nation". You need to realize this is a very large concern and it is time to stand up and fight against this. It is not just about your stance on vaccinating and not vaccinating, it is about your right as a parent to make that choice! And if vaccines work, my unvaccinated child should not threaten you:)
It is time to read the small print. This could effect you now and let me tell you why. The current medical informed consent is aimed to do one thing, make sure the doctor is covered when you tell them you don't want to immunize. This newest refusal to vaccinate form goes above and beyond this...it continues to state that your choice not to vaccinate confirms your abuse, neglect and ability to cause harm to your child and others...which opens a door for CPS and child protective services to be alarmed by you. Did you follow that? You're stating your a bad parent and CPS is welcome to come stop by. You don't have to sign this form....I repeat you... do not... have to sign this form.
FUN FACT: Did you know where informed consent originated? Nazi Germany...well after to be more accurate. Attorney's for the Germans stated that the testing that was done on the Jews was for the greater good. Hmmm....is that what people are saying about vaccines??? Awkward...
So to wrap up please understand what you are signing, and if you choose to vaccinate understand and read the label. Do you know what's in your kids food? Then shouldn't you know what your shooting them up with!
